A lot of people want to know who their horses are. Pedigrees enable us to learn where the horses are from, their breeders, who their parents, their siblings are. Each horse’s family has certain features that are more desirable than others. Some with an upright neck & board chest, while others have the big eye and a teacup muzzle while some have speed to race the wind.
Bedouins had kept verbal pedigrees on their horses for centuries. This allows them to breed the best ones for their herd and to cull out any undesirable traits. There are legends about 5 strains of the Arabian horse, and how they were chosen to be the elite of the breed.
